Global Payments Asia-Pacific Introduces “Global HomeCurrencyPay™”
in Malaysia
New Service Provides International Cardholders with the Convenience of Paying in Their Own Currency

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 July, 2008 – Global Payments Asia-Pacific Limited (“Global Payments”), a joint venture between The Hongkong and Banking Corporation Limited (“HSBC”) and U.S.-based Global Payments Inc. [NYSE: GPN], introduced the Global HomeCurrencyPay service at a media launch held in Kuala Lumpur today. Global HomeCurrencyPay will be offered by Global Payments Card Processing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (GPCP) in Malaysia. This innovative new service allows merchants to offer international cardholders the option of making card transactions in their own home currency.  Global Payments is the first payment processor in Malaysia to launch this service.

Speaking at the media launch of Global HomeCurrencyPay, Justin Teo, Global Payments’ Head of Sales for Malaysia and Brunei said, “Foreign tourists and international business travelers will be given an option to make payment in either their home currency or in Malaysian Ringgit when they pay with their Visa or MasterCard® cards.  This new, quick and convenient service will be made available at retail outlets, hotels and restaurants.”

With this multi-currency payment option, customers will be able to know exactly how much they will pay for purchases in their home currency at the point of sale, without having to wait for their monthly card statement when they return home.

Besides the benefit to international cardholders, merchants also stand to gain from Global HomeCurrencyPay by offering consumers a superior customer experience.  Elaborating further, Justin said, “Whenever possible, international cardholders will want to make a more informed purchasing decision.  Merchants’ payment devices using the Global HomeCurrencyPay service are able to display prices and print receipts in the cardholder’s chosen currency.  We are optimistic that our cutting-edge processing solutions will be able to drive repeat business and add new international customers for merchants.  This service could help drive international card spending at merchants’ outlets which provide this service.”

A demonstration of the product showed a seamless and fully automated transaction process.  Merchants can gain the benefits of easy set-up of the service, free start up and they can  lower effective processing costs associated with foreign credit card transactions, resulting in potential cost savings for them.

According to statistics from Tourism Malaysia, a record 20.9 million tourists visited the country in 2007 bringing in receipts of over RM46 billion (US$14.3 billion),  Global Payments has begun to offer this new service for international customers at five-star hotels and luxury brand outlets located in major cities around the country.

Global HomeCurrencyPay is now available to Global Payments’ merchants in Malaysia, Taiwan and China and will be followed by rollout in other key Asian markets.
